November 20 Final week in KLIt is hard for me to believe that I am already into my final week of my 5.5 weeks holiday in KL!
Checked my last blog entry, that was posted two months ago. Sorry folks. Kudos to WSL, despite the irregular activities from her blog kakis, she is continuously dedicated and determined to keep her blog active and entertaining. I also see a few reuturnees e.g. IO, Spy and discovering that Ken san has an interesting blog too.
I don't really have anything in particular that I want to write about now. I just miss you guys, miss blogging. Have been hybernating for almost two months every since I left my job. Been disappearing from the blogging scene partly because I was out a lot, and at those time that I have internet access, I consciously remind myself not to stick my face to the monitor too much during my holidays.
Did not do anything unusual in KL this time, simple idle most of the time. but being able to spend time at home as well as with family and friends felt good. Trying to relearn some old family habits, both good and bad ones of course. All these bring back memories, right down to my childhood...
Will be back with more. September 26 It's hard to say goodbyeI am extremely busy now wrapping up work and going round saying good bye. I have only 30 more minutes left before I need to leave for airport and I have not even packed up my office items. I am not supposedly have time for writing this blog, but I just can't bear this emotion as I was doing my rounds in the office.
I have always thought my life in Hong Kong was rather emotionally detached from work. I was wrong.
No big farewell party, but there were many small gestures from various individuals that made me feel very touched. Some of them very unexpected.
I don't feel like crying. But very moved. Once again, I am blessed in life. With great people around me that makes everyday worth living even on the toughest days. September 25 Floppy diskLet me walk you down the memory lane of those days of us using the squarish 1.44MB floppy diskette...
I was finally doing my moving last weekend (yeah, there will soon be another entry on this!). Among all the junks I managed to collect over the years, I found three floppy disks in my storage box. They are some documents relating to my university alumni association, dating back to as old as the late 90s when I served as a secretary.
Not knowing how long the life span of the diskettes are, and also fearing the risk of floppy disk drive getting obsolete, I have decided to save these files onto my personal computer and later back up onto CD. So I brought the diskettes to office this morning to do the transfer cos my laptop does not have floppy disk drive (see, see, told you it would be obsolete!). I vaguely remember there is a floppy drive on the desktop of my work PC.
First step, find the floppy drive. Such an unfamiliar action. I think I haven't located for a floppy drive for half a decade, at least. Second, insert the diskette into the drive. Unlike plugging in a thumbdrive that one can (in this era) do it swiftly and naturally without needing to process the action in our head, I was actually a rather clumpsy action.
Then I heard this "ka-ka-eek-eek-kaa" sound coming from the CPU. That's the processing sound of the floppy disk
This reminds me of the several entries WSL about the use of technology in our lives these days. It is indeed true that we human are becoming more and more impatient nowadays. |
